Summary:
Welcome to the MYP Spanish Language Acquisition course. As a key factor in the development of international understanding language has an important role at ISB.
Language acquisition can be not only a highly challenging and rewarding process, but also an enjoyable one. In an attempt to foster a positive attitude towards language learning, through the course students will be encouraged to develop an appreciation for not only the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures, but also for the process of language acquisition.
Teaching and learning in the chosen language acquisition course is organized into six phases. These phases represent a developmental continuum of additional language learning. Depending on their prior additional language learning experiences, students may start their language acquisition course in any phase of the continuum and may exit from any phase on the continuum.
Regardless of the phase, students will develop their language skills through various units and demonstrate their knowledge and understanding by applying and using various language processes in combination with each other, and in a range of authentic situation.

I expect my students to come to class prepared, to have an open-minded attitude towards all classroom activities, to complete all assignments on time and thoroughly, to demonstrate respectful behavior in class, and treat each other with care and empathy. They are expected to be good communicators and share their knowledge and opinions in a considerate and respectful way, as well as listen to the opinions of others with just as much consideration and respect.
