Last November, the ISB Board voted unanimously to offer the position of Director to Shary Marshall, effective July 1, 2023. Shary comes to ISB with an extensive background in international education, having served in senior leadership positions in K-12 schools in Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, and her native USA. She previously held teaching positions in Taiwan, China, Czechia, and the US.
Currently serving as Deputy Head of the 1,200-student two-campus Bavarian International School in Munich, Germany, Shary is excited to return to the CEESA region, having previously spent five years as Director of Teaching and Learning at the Anglo-American School of Sofia, Bulgaria. “Eastern Europe holds a special place in my heart,” she says. “Stepping foot on the ISB campus during my visit last autumn, I felt an immediate connection with the community.”
Shary is currently pursuing an EdD at the University of Kentucky with a research focus on the role of trust in leadership. She has a daughter set to graduate from the University of Exeter in the UK this summer. Shary and her husband will be on campus in May for a transition visit. Details on the visit will be made available at a later date.
