Lower School After School Activities Fall Season 2018

German for Beginners According to the newly released PYP enhancements, multilingualism, the use of two or more languages, is encouraged and supported through
the development of multilingual learning environments and multilingual communities, affirming student identity and agency. Therefore, at
Gr. 2-5 ISB, we offer this unique opportunity to further develop our student language profiles through the ASA program. The students, who choose to
enroll in this activity, will continue to develop intercultural competence, creativity and logical thinking, in authentic learning environment. This
Fantasy Art program will also promote translanguaging, the process in which students flexibly draw on known languages, combining their elements to
meet communicative and social needs.
Gr. 3-5 This activity requires students to attend both Tuesday and Thursday sessions. For this reason, these two sessions will be counted as one activi-
ty. The program is open to students in Grades 2-5. Maximum 8 students
Kung Fu
How to draw a superhero, an imaginary creature or a beast from a different dimension? Step by step, we will imagine, combine, create and
Gr. 3-5 draw/paint/construct different fantasy character, and make up stories about them.

Ms. Suzana will teach you the basics of Kung Fu Wing Chun techniques - attack and defense and kung-fu forms. The benefits of practicing this
wonderful skill is the fact that at the same time as working to strengthen the mind and body, there is equal development of both brain hemi-
spheres through various techniques of simultaneous moves and defense, as well as the acquisition of the necessary self-confidence in children
this age. Join and learn the 500 hundred year old Shaolin martial art ‘’Kung Fu Wing Chun.’’ Fun fact: Bruce Lee began his martial arts studies
training in a system of kung-fu called Wing Chun. Maximum 10 students
