Music

As the year is coming to a close it is becoming clear that PreK students grew a lot and
have acquired a number of musical skills. Currently, while singing, clapping, and stomp-
ing, they are exploring sound. While playing ukuleles, they are working on maintaining
a steady beat. Keeping things both fun and educational we are also playing different Ljudmila Janicijevic
games that are helping us strengthen our understanding of opposites in music such as Music Teacher
fast and slow, loud and soft. Our song of the month, Presto Largo, is greatly assisting us
with that. However, a definite highlight of the month for our PreK students is a ballet
performance of Aladdin that took place on our campus. Complementing our theme of
How Do We Express Ourselves, this performance was a perfect fit for us and a great
way to enrich students’ learning experience

Movement & Dance

During May, our focus was on balance. Children explored and learned different tech-
niques of keeping their bodies still and balanced. We practiced hopping using an obsta-
cle set. With each practice students were getting better and more confident running the Ivana Jovanovic
obstacle course. M&D Teacher

As a connection to the PYP unit, Growing Plants, we continued to perform skits inspired
by poems about gardening, and played a mime game Fruit Salad.

This group was full of enthusiasm and positive energy. They’ve all made terrific progress
in their movement skills since the beginning of the school year, and I am looking forward
seeing them in August.
