Music

MS. LJUDMILA JANICIJEVIC

We are all exited to share our music-related knowledge at the upcoming Student Led Conferences. As a part
of our preparation, we have been focused on part singing, mainly concentrating on blending, contrasting, and
changing timbers. In addition, we engaged in listening to great composers, such as Mozart and Beethoven,
and analyzing their work. Our goal was to gain a better understanding of both technical and artistic value of
 their masterpieces.
Enthusiastic and always open to learn more – that is the best description of grade three students’ work in
March. They especially liked our newly introduced music games with passing objects, which kept their atten-
tion on egg shakers. Listening skills were sharpened through Orff games, when students played rhythmic pat-
terns with Dave Brubeck’s famous tune Take Five.
When performing in couples, we refocused – but also refreshed our energy – with Double Double This That
 game and with Baby Shark.
We also continued to dance. Dance of the month was Black Cat.
What we also continued working on was reading music scores, with emphasis on
rests and their lengths, in addition to reading the tempo and dynamic signs.
Next month we will start singing the part song Lighting up the Flame, a
song which we are invited to participate with at Voices around the World pro-
 ject, with other schools.
Last but not the least, grade three students began creating arrangement for Lean
on Me. Split in groups, they enjoyed the arrangement which they started with
 string, percussion and keyboard sections.
