Celebrating the Heart of Our Community: ISB’s PTSA

Community is at the heart of everything we do at ISB, and the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) plays a central role in building and sustaining that spirit. Each year, the PTSA welcomes new members and refreshes its executive board, ensuring fresh ideas and energy to plan and run a variety of events that engage students, parents, and staff. Meeting biweekly, the team coordinates logistics, shares ideas, and works together to make every event run smoothly, fostering connections and creating a welcoming atmosphere for both new and returning families.

The PTSA also provides vital support to new families joining the ISB community. Through their presence at the New Family Orientation and the Welcome Back Picnic, volunteers share information about the school, introduce families to key aspects of the ISB community, and provide students with ISB swag to help them feel part of the school from day one. These efforts help new families settle in quickly and create early opportunities for connection.

The PTSA’s events offer opportunities for the whole community to come together. Students enjoy Movie Afternoons featuring animated films in English, providing a fun and relaxed way to socialize outside the classroom. Parents and staff can take part in Quiz Nights, a chance to connect, collaborate, and enjoy friendly competition. One of the highlights of the year is the Halloween Celebration on the Primary School campus, which draws more than 500 members of the ISB community to enjoy costumes, games, and a festive experience. Each of these gatherings plays an important role in nurturing relationships and strengthening the school’s sense of community.

The PTSA’s largest event is the Spring Fair, held at the end of May, which brings together over 800 visitors from the ISB community and beyond. The fair combines celebration with purpose, featuring international food tables, games, raffles, and performances. Funds raised at the Spring Fair support local organizations making a difference in the lives of children and youth. Last year, the PTSA donated 200,000 RSD each to Zvecanska Home for Children without Parental Care and Youth Safehouse “Zvezda.” Zvecanska used the funds to host monthly birthday parties for their children, while Zvezda partially renovated a kitchen at one of their homes. Both organizations expressed gratitude for ISB’s support and look forward to continuing their partnership with our community.

An important element of the PTSA’s work is the Spirit Corner, which manages pop up sales, oversees stock and design, and ensures ISB merchandise remains vibrant and fresh. The PTSA also coordinates with secondary student initiatives, providing financial support to help student-led projects thrive, further strengthening connections across the school.

The school year concludes with the ISB Community Garage Sale, another opportunity for families to come together, exchange goods, and celebrate the spirit of connection and sustainability. Behind all these events is a dedicated team of volunteers, parents, students, and staff, whose enthusiasm ensures the PTSA’s work continues to have a lasting impact.

From welcoming new families to supporting local charities and empowering student initiatives, the PTSA is an integral part of ISB. Their work ensures that our school is not only a place of learning but also a community where everyone has a chance to connect, participate, and make a difference.
