We are glad to inform you that we started our new school year very successfully and
actively!
During September we worked hard to improve our body awareness and body control,
both whilst stationary and moving through space.
We practiced stopping and changing directions at the sound of a signal in different situa-
tions (walking, running, hopping, skipping, and rolling over mats). We also had a chance
to practice handling some props, such as different sized balls, bean-bags and hula-
hoops.
Through our Unit “Games of Simple Organization”, aside from games taught by the
teacher, students had a chance to share their favorite game with the rest of the class.
With a little help from a teacher, students explained the game, equipment needed and
taught their peers basic rules so we could all play their game together. We really had a
lot of fun playing games from all around the world!
Taking part in a variety of games we experienced that we can easily make new friends
through them. We played on the same team with friends that we met at the beginning of
the school year. We worked together towards a common goal with classmates we usual-
ly don't play with during recess. We realized that we are the same or different from oth-
ers according to the games we like/dislike to play, and that we can connect with others
while playing.
First graders displayed a lot of appreciation, enthusiasm and fairness throughout this
unit, showing their readiness for new challenges.
WELL DONE First Graders!
