In the previous weeks, students were working on the single subject unit of inquiry ‘Who

We Are – Artistic Journeys’. Following the pre-assessment task which revealed much
about students’ interests, students could choose to learn more about the works of Leonar-

do da Vinci on a different level than in the previous school year or about the works of
Juan Miro. Students continued to learn about the use of line, shape, and value through

color.


Also, children chose materials for their inquiries while working in small group settings or in
pairs. As the key concepts for this unit are Perspective, Form, and Reflection, and the

highlighted Learner profiles are Inquirer and Communicator, students will continue to work
in groups so they can help each other during their inquiries.


Later in this unit, the study of two new artists will be offered to students. The aim for this
unit is to introduce the works of artists who have different perspectives on presenting real-

ity so that students can discover more about themselves and each other.
