In the previous weeks, students continued working on the unit of inquiry
‘How We Express Ourselves – Symbol’, as a connection to student
learning in their homeroom. Students were given choices regarding the
material used for expressing themselves. Children were learning about
the use of movement and pattern through contrasting colors and there-
fore they were creating figures in motion out of pipe cleaners, drawing
with chalk pastels and painting with watercolors or paint. Also, students
were experimenting with a combination of materials.
Children enjoyed learning about works by either Keith Haring or Edvard
Munch while expressing their emotions.
December is the month when our Arts Program celebrates student
learning, and we would like to invite you to our Winter Show! The Win-
ter Show will take place in the gym of the Upper School on December
17th. There you will be able to see the entire Lower School’s students
singing and dancing as well as their individual and group pieces of art.
