During November, Grade 4 students continued to practice fol-

lowing and giving directions.

Year 2 students learned place prepositions and imperative.

Students composed compound sentences to give directions.

Our focus was oral fluency, and students practiced dialogue

through role-play. This unit was a good opportunity to learn

something about formal and informal speech and the use of ti

and Vi, two different ways to say you in Serbian.

Year 4 students learned real-life situations and used a map of

Belgrade to follow and give directions. They practiced how to

give directions using a street map and cardinal directions.

These activities were quite challenging, as street names in

Belgrade are hard to pronounce. We practiced pronunciation

and learned that streets in Serbia are named after famous

people from around the world, but also after cities, countries,

and even trees.

Currently, Grade 4 students are focusing on writing. They are

using the iPad app Story Patch to write a story about winter.
