Grade three students continued working on the single subject unit of
inquiry ‘How the World Works – Elements and Principles.’
While working on this unit, students had fun while developing their
drawing, painting, sculpting skills, and learning that a sketch can be
modified as their ideas develop. The “peak” of the students’ inquiries
were understanding how we can connect our interests with current
learning, and therefore we heard and saw many different approaches
to solving problems and different pieces of art as the result of their
thinking and working.
Throughout the work, students informally reflected on their findings to
learn how to improve during the following part of the inquiry.
Also, we had successful conferences where children were able to
show their works and demonstrate their knowledge.
