Third grade students have continued exploring classroom instruments.
Working on guitars and ukulele, they memorized the names and positions
of different pitches – primarily focusing on E, G, A and C sounds. Inspired
with range of interpretations of “Stand by Me,” we created accompaniment
with ukuleles, recorders and percussion, Students sang and played “Stand
by Me” as a band.
Musicians of the month were Ben E. King and John Lennon.
Composer of the month was our very own Simon Karic.
Next month we will start developing Simon’ composition and write music
score for our authentic arrangement.
Inspired by the movie about Evelyn Glennie and her life story, students
discovered beauty of percussion instruments, learning what it means to
“touch” the sound. Evelyn shared important messages of the team work
and balance, achievable only if we awake all our senses, not only
our hearing.
