Dear Parents,
Gr 3 students continued to read texts and books aimed at developing their worldviews
and at supporting their unit of inquiry on water. We learned new concepts and vocabu-
lary linked to the unit on water. We talked about the water cycle, read about water pollu-
tion and water treatment plants. We read stories that inspired their imaginations to soar
and make connections to real and imagined worlds (Imagine a Day, Imagine a Night,
Mattland). After reading a story about brave mountain climbers and the people who had
to rescue them, the students attempted to figure out the implications of whether people
should risk their lives to rescue climbers or other adventurers who suffered accidents as
a result of taking unnecessary life-threatening risks. The students were given guided
questions to support their written responses. In addition, we reviewed parts of grammar
we had studied previously and continued to learn about and identify subject and object
pronouns.
