Dear Parents,
Fifth graders started the New Year with lot of passion for exploring and creating mu-
sic. Getting ready for exhibition and its central idea People work together to improve the en-
vironment in which they live, we opened some important questions such as: What message
does certain music piece have? What change or improvement did the musician want to
inspire you with? Which section or part influences or inspires you and why?
Don McLean’s “Starry Night,” Michel Jackson’s “Earth Song” and “Man in the Mir-
ror,” together with John Lennon’s “Imagine” helped students understand how artists
use musical elements and lyrics to express their opinion and send a message.
In the following weeks we plan on starting our music adventure of creating the lyrics
for our own class song.
