Dear Parents,
This year Exhibition has come upon us earlier in the school year than previously. We
are now focusing on getting the students through this challenging project by providing
the best possible support they might need. We are engaged in developing their note-
taking skills, looking into reliable and trustworthy sources and accessing reliable and
child-friendly search-engines and articles on the Web. The students are also working on
improving their social and collaborative skills while working together in groups. The
students are scheduled to meet with their mentors at least twice a week and receive fur-
ther in-class support from their homeroom teachers, the PYP coordinator and myself,
their EAL teacher. Our time in EAL classes is also now devoted to dealing with issues
related to their work on the Exhibition. We will continue to work on developing note-
taking skills as they are essential for students when accessing different sources of in-
formation. Work on improving reading and writing skills – looking for information,
comprehension, identifying key words and phrases, paraphrasing, putting it all together
into paragraphs- are just some of the many language-related issues we will continue to
work on.
