Music

MS. LJUDMILA JANICIJEVIC

We are all exited to share our music-related knowledge at the upcoming Student Led Conferences.
As a part of our preparation, we have been focused on part singing; above all on blending, con-
trasting, and changing timbers.

In addition, we engaged in listening and analyzing works of great composers, such as Mozart and
Beethoven. Our goal was to gain a better understanding of both technical and artistic value these
masterpieces possess.

In March, we went on developing ideas for our Musical Ship story, using students’ imagination to
orchestrate and arrange various parts of the ship adventure. It grew into a great journey, where stu-
dents played almost all groups of classroom instruments to illustrate their ideas. Students also used
their own drawings as a base, to which they added sounds, after which they further developed it into
even more complex music phrases.

Next month, students will start practicing and reading a music score for the song Lighting up the
Flame, which we are invited to record, as a part of the project Voices around the World. We believe
our recording experience would improve our phrasing, but also our ability to read music signs and
symbols.

Songs of the month were: Lean on Me, Baby Shark, and Wake Me - Shake Me.
