Music

With our special guest Petar Vokobrat from “Vocal Chords,” we worked on beat boxing -
developing different arrangements for lead vocals and covering big hits such as Fever and
Happy. Doing so, we were divided into different groups, recording different possibilities and
arrangements for the above mentioned songs. Writing both rhythmic and melodic lines, we
also worked on composing our own persuasion songs using a new Finale Song music writing
software. Our composer of the month was Federic Chopin. We listened to different inter- Ljudmila Janicijevic
pretations of his most famous piano pieces. – generating interesting discussions. Our musi- Music Teacher
cians of the month were Magnetic Zeros and their song Man on Fire and Pharrell’s Happy.

Physical Education

Dear Parents,

Our fourth and fifth grade students have recently finished their gymnastics unit and moved
to team sports - volleyball.

We started with a review of the basic techniques involved in passing, serving and receiving
the ball by engaging in different drills, in pairs and in groups.

Grade four students continue to practice with a ball that is much lighter than the official Marija Dimitrov
ball, but it’s the same size. Fifth graders will utilize the ball that is almost like an official vol- PE Teacher
leyball.

Since volleyball is a dynamic sport, players are never still during a game. They need to ad-
just their position to wherever the ball is.

Through group activities we practiced moving around the court and adjusting our body and
arms according to the ball and the location of the other players. We practiced playing
with the ball and changing the direction of the pass, when needed.

After revising the basic volleyball rules, such as how points are scored in the game, play-
ers’ positions and when and in which way players rotate, we started playing matches.

Students are expected to apply their volleyball and cooperative skills and knowledge in a
real game situation. They truly tried their best, while gaining confidence in their abilities.
