Spanish

Dear fifth grade parents,

Welcome to our fifth Spanish newsletter! As always, in this letter, you will find out
all the exciting learning activities taking place in the Lower School Spanish class.

Spanish Language The month of February was reserved for the connected unit of inquiry - “Who We
Are” – Beliefs and Values. In this unit the grade five students had an opportunity to
work through the project called “Las cosas importantes en mi vida” – Important
things in my life. First, we started with brainstorming about the things that they be-
lieve that are important in life. After making a list of priorities in life, we decided to
choose five things that are important and valuable for them (first four things were
the same for all of them and the fifth thing was their individual choice). We worked
together on the new vocabulary and expressions that can be used for their writing.
The students were asked to write a paragraph for each of five things that they chose
that are important in their lives. The last part of the project was to design a presen-
tation (Power Point, Book, Poster) and to present it.

I was very satisfied with my students´ work, with their choice of words, with diverse
selection of expressions and especially with the fact that they mastered and applied
the new concepts (correct conjugation of the regular verbs in Spanish).
