As we are still working on the single subject unit of inquiry ‘Who We
Are – Artistic Journeys’, students have started responding to the works
by Pablo Picasso. Students continued to deepen their knowledge of
the use of shape and color and their skills in creating collages, draw-
ing, and painting.
In the following part of this unit, we will focus on the use of materials
for achieving goals, as a connection to students’ learning in the home-
room. Also, now that the students have learned about two art per-
spectives, the styles of Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, children will
choose to respond to one of these two art styles learned while creating
their works. Should students wish to express themselves without re-
sponding to these artists’ styles, that will also be welcomed.
