While aiming to follow a steady beat, first graders
worked on perfecting their singing with piano accompa-
niment. they sang songs from different cultures and
from different genres. With songs such as "Gloria",
"Step by Step", and "So Cool" students worked on their
dancing skills where we practiced movements of differ-
ent body parts in isolation. In addition, we took on an
extra challenge - to sing a song by memory in a lan-
guage other than English. We sang "Guantanamera".
enriching our performance, we also accompanied our
songs with tambourines, drums, and rhythmic sticks.
Next month we will continue developing our "music liter-
acy", working on music symbols.
