Dear Parents,

During October, second graders worked on their gross motor skills. Throughout this

unit we utilized obstacle courses and relay games in order to have the most fun pos-

sible while improving our coordination, agility and hand/foot manipulative skills.

Next we moved on to the Ball Handling Unit and we practiced passing and catching

balls of different sizes in a variety of ways. We worked on ball control while dribbling

it by hand or foot, as well as kicking and trapping skills.

We tried to increase our precision each time we shot balls into goals and hoops,

using both one and two hands. We also tried to score goals from short and long dis-

tances on the court.

Applying what we have learned - our dribbling, passing and shooting skills - we took

part in Soccer and Benchball (modified basketball) games. Through these games we

worked on building cooperation among our teammates and gaining better spatial

awareness on the court.

I am happy to say that students displayed great enthusiasm throughout the unit.
