In the previous weeks, we finished working on the single subject unit of inquiry
‘Who We Are – Artistic Journeys,’ while inquiring into the differences between
the artistic styles of Leonardo da Vinci and Marc Chagall.
Students loved inquiring into the imaginative style of Marc Chagall! Since the
weather served us well, we used every opportunity to go outside to draw with
chalk pastels. We finished the unit with a visual reflection.
We have also started working on the unit of inquiry ‘How We Express Our-
selves – Provocations’ as a connection to students’ learning in the homeroom.
Due to this, students went to a field trip to explore art at the galleries and muse-
ums. As a part of children’s inquiry, they were discussing different emotions
showed in the famous artists’ works from different centuries. During this unit,
students will be expected to create pieces of art in which they will express dif-
ferent emotions. We are hoping to get many different responses regarding emo-
tions during the following weeks.
