During the previous weeks, students finished working on the single
subject unit of inquiry ‘How We Express Ourselves – Symbol.’ Stu-
dents finished with their learning about the use of representational
and abstract symbols while creating a visual reflection. While working
on their visual reflections, students shared what they learned about
the artist of their choice and the use of elements and principles of art
taught – shape, contrast through warm and cool colors, and value.
During this unit, students were choosing to draw, create collages or
to paint. In the end of the unit, all students painted while practicing
mixing colors in order to create different values of the same color.
