Dear Grade 3 Parents,

Welcome to the Spanish Newsletter for October! As usual, we keep informing you about the

learning experiences taking place in our classroom.

At the beginning of the month we learned how to use the first person of the Present Tense in

order to express the activities that we usually do in classes and during recess (Yo leo-I read, Yo
escribo-I write, Yo borro la pizarra-I clean the board, Yo juego con mis amigos-I play with my

friends, Yo chateo con mis amigos-I chat with my friends, etc.).

Later, we carried out our final project for our interactions unit, which consisted of making a post-

er of our world of daily interactions (Mi mundo). In the poster, the students included the lexical
and grammar structures learned throughout the unit in order to write the descriptions of them-

selves, their best friend, family members and a teacher. Once the poster was finished, they pre-
sented it to the class.

Subsequently, we proceeded to work on our second connecting unit for this school year the fo-
cus of which is on maps and locations. Within this unit, we are learning about different names

and position of rooms in a house. We are using different house/flat models, plans and videos in
order to learn how to use Spanish so as to interpret the plan of a house (En esta casa hay/no

hay or Esta casa tiene un salón, una cocina, tres dormitorios, un baño, un aseo, etc.) and de-
scribe our house (En mi casa hay/Mi casa tiene…). Furthermore, we are going to acquire the

vocabulary on furniture and the structures necessary to give instructions and express directions
(sigues todo recto, giras a la derecha/izquireda, etc.).

Traditionally, the last week of October in our school we are all exited due to the Halloween cele-
bration and in Spanish classroom we have also dedicated some time to the particular vocabulary

related to this holiday by playing Halloween games and making Halloween masks and items.

I hope that we will keep in good mood next month!
