October was a busy month for kindergarteners. We explored
basic body movements, use of space and dynamics of move-
ment (fast/slow, big/small, tense/relaxed). Students practiced
respect of personal space of other participants in the class,
and cooperated to create letters/numbers by using their bod-
ies. They learned to work independently and in groups with
trust and confidence, and that interacting/engaging with others
is a joyful experience. Then, we used bean bags to play
games that focus on hand-eye and bilateral coordination.
Who’s Got the Bean Bag is a challenging circle passing game
that encourages students to cooperate and stay focused while
keeping the bean bag off the ground. Pass the Bean Bag Is
another game characterized by sudden tempo change and it
always brings a lot of laughter to our class.
