English language support for Kindergarten children takes place in the
classroom as push-in support where the teachers work collaboratively on
developing language and initial literacy skills.

In the current Unit of Inquiry An organized and cooperative school
encourages learning children asked and answered questions such as Why
do we come to school? and Who works in a school? They inquired into
their own experiences and environment. They toured the school and
discovered which teachers worked in different buildings of the school
compound. They mapped their findings and added photographs of
teachers and aides to the map in response to the question Who helps us?
The questions what and who helps us learn had them thinking not only
about school, but of home as well. Mums and dads were mentioned, older
brothers and sisters, friends and teachers. They realized that they can
learn from books, computers, pictures, letters, even toys and games.

Literacy activities included bingo games and sequencing activities, and
letter and sound formation. One resource, Jolly Phonics, provides for fun
learning of sounds.
