In the previous weeks, students were working on the single subject unit of in-
quiry ‘How the World Works – Elements and Principles of Art’. Through this
unit, students have started learning about Op Art movement and creating
forms with various materials such as pipe cleaners, wire, and clay.
Those students who chose to respond to the Op Art were inquiring into the
use of line and space (perspective and overlapping) for creating their pieces of
art. After some time, all students started working on creating their sculptures
while using the materials of their choice. Through creating sculptures, students
were learning about the properties of materials and the use of form for their
artistic creations. Also, all students were able either to choose to conduct their
inquiries while using one material or to experiment by themselves in other of-
fered materials.
December is the month when our Arts Program celebrates student learning,
and we would like to invite you to our Winter Show! The Winter Show will take
place in the gym of the Upper School on December 17th. There you will be
able to see the entire Lower School’s students singing and dancing as well as
their individual and group pieces of art. We look forward to seeing you there!
