Dear Grade 5 parents,
It´s hard to believe that winter holidays are approaching! November is behind us,
the month in which Grade 5 Spanish students were really hard-working and produc-
tive!
Within our unit on My House and My Life in it, the students learned about different
chores (limpiar, lavar los platos, barrer, fregar, cocinar, etc.) and activities used for
expressing our daily routines (levantarse, ducharse, lavarse, acostarse, etc.). In
terms of grammar, we focused on the Present Tense, adverbs of frequency
(siempre, todos los días, a menudo, a veces, pocas veces, nunca), the reflexive
verbs and the prepositions used in time expressions. The students were practicing
the conjugation of new verbs by playing board games, making a tree of their daily
routine during school days and comparing their regular day with their ideal day. We
watched a funny video on Mr. Bean´s daily routine and completed a series of activi-
ties to describe it In Spanish. We will also make a cultural connection watching a
video of a typical day of Frida Kahlo and remember this unique Hispanic artist. The
students will have a task to make a video on the daily routine of their favorite celeb-
rity acting as them.
Additionally, as the holidays are closing, we will conclude this year by learning how
Spanish people celebrate holidays, we will listen to the holiday songs and make hol-
iday cards.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you happy holidays and prosperous New
Year!
