Kindergarten students were working on the unit of inquiry ‘Who We Are
– Senses’ as a connection to their learning in the homeroom.
Students were discovering the use and importance of their senses
through various experiences. Children explored sense of touch, sight,
smell, and sense of hearing. We played games as starting points for
our classes. Students were touching, smelling, and guessing the prop-
erties of materials from ‘mystery boxes’, such as cotton, clay, tree
bark, and many others. Most of our materials students were able to
use for their projects. We tried to work by silent instructions, explored
their sense of sight while learning about symmetry through drawing,
painting, and printing, and they explored their sense of touch and sight
while creating their clay projects.
