Dear Parents,
January was a month of Games with simple organization for Pre-
Kindergarten students. Through a variety of group games, students were
given the opportunity to practice different locomotor movements and exper-
iment with different pieces of P.E. equipment. We practiced how to play
safely and by the rules; taking on a variety of roles. Aside from continuing
to play games previously learned, students enjoyed participating in new
games, such as “Husky Wants a Home,” “Brownies and Fairies,” “Thieves
and Robbers,” to name a few.
Lately, our Pre-Kindergarten students have started their ‘Throwing and
Catching’ unit. As we practice positioning our bodies correctly in order to
complete different throwing motions (such as roll, the overhead and the
underhand throws) we are also beginning to work on estimating the direc-
tion and speed of a ball, we are also getting ourselves into the appropriate
catching position. So far we’ve worked together as ISB’s youngest basket-
ball team, practicing throwing the ball through the hoop, placed at different
heights. And, as you might guess, we are happy to announce that we
scored our first points already!
