Grade Pre-Kindergarten students were working on the unit of inquiry
‘Where We Are in Place and Time – Toys’ as a connection to their
learning in the homeroom.
We started our classes with conversations about how we play in
school, watching ‘Muppet Show’ and other appropriate short videos, or
with reading a book with their favorite characters, Gerald and Piggy.
Students were creating toys inspired by the book characters while
drawing and cutting, they were painting and drawing while working in
groups and on their individual projects. Children continued to learn
how to share the materials and tools while working in class. Also, chil-
dren started working on their clay projects while representing their fa-
vorite toys with clay. We had many conversations about how we play
with different materials in at class.
