First grade students continued exploring classroom instru-
ments. After ukuleles, they took a closer look into xylo-
phones, paying special attention to positioning of different
sounds, as well as to creating soft and loud sounds. In order
to get a better sense of rhythm, students also used percus-
sion instruments. Following a steady beat helped them im-
prove their singing as well. They sang “Day-O” and “LOL”, fo-
cusing on call and response.
Next month we will start brainstorming and creating variety of
solutions for "Banana Boat” choreography - call and respons-
es, boys and girls, musicians and dancers, singers and play-
ers… Having been initially inspired with original version by
Carmen Miranda, we are going to create our own, authentic
one. We are very eager to see what our creative project will
end up with!
