Grade 2 Spanish students successfully concluded their Weather unit with the project Mi estación
del año favorita, in which they described the chosen season by explaining which months it in-
cludes, what´s the weather usually like, what they wear and which activities they do during that
season.
Having finished this unit, we initiated our Who we are-Health unit in which we will learn various
topics related to health (the importance of working out, doing sports and eating healthy). We
started the unit building the students’ vocabulary on body parts by listening to the songs, follow-
ing the instructions and touching different body parts and playing a game of body parts called
Un mosquito me ha picado en… Also, we did morning gymnastics in Spanish, where the stu-
dents learned how to follow the instructions and do the exercise (Mueve la cabeza, Extiende el
brazo, Pon la mano derecha en el hombro izquierdo, etc.). The students learned the steps in
order to dance the famous Macarena. In pairs, the students made their own six steps exercise
and acted as instructors to the class. Besides that, they acquired the vocabulary on a range of
sports and can express what sports they play, practice, watch on TV or do during different sea-
sons.
We will continue by learning about healthy food, the names of different fruits and vegetables and
making distinctions between healthy and unhealthy meals.
Looking forward to our next productive month of Spanish,.
