PreK students have worked hard in March. They have applied their knowledge of using percus-
sion instruments, recognizing when to play, rest and take turns.
Inspired with beautiful Japanese tune “Furusato,” hey have practiced reading musical symbols
and playing them on xylophones.
PreK students have also worked on developing their ability to maintain a steady beat. In order to
help them achieve this goal, there have been a number of stomping and clapping exercises,
aiming to improve their ability to listen, take turns and follow the beat properly. The result of all
those activities and skills which students had conducted together, has been a new way of sing-
ing songs “Music Family” and “Banana Boat Song:” drum beat has been added to their voices.
Music story of the month was “Jazz Fly.”
Musician of the month was Harry Belafonte.
After being inspired with the famous movie “Sound of Music” at its 50th anniversary in 2015, and
its famous tune “Do-a-Deer”, we will continue to learn the names of the notes in C-scale and
play them on keyboards and xylophones.
Getting ready for the spring, we will enrich our repertoire with more choreographies and happy
tunes, which we shall sing joyfully.
