  Dear Parents,

In October, Grade Four students enjoyed their new Unit on Dance. They mainly focused on stomp,
as one of the ways to move and dance. By analyzing and discussing different numbers from the fa-
mous musical “Stomp Out Loud”, students expressed their desire to get familiar with as many danc-
ing styles as possible, aiming to create their own, authentic stomp dance.
Students began their creative process of shaping the Winter Concert. inspired with Edvard Grieg
and his Peer Gynt story, in addition to his sailing boat which brought him back home. Led by the
themes of interconnectedness, unity, and compassion, they worked together on creating a perfor-
mance that would include all of the elements of music they studied this trimester.
Grade Four students also continued playing various classroom instruments and, at the same time,
polished their phrasing and expression. Currently they are looking for the ways to incorporate sing-
ing and playing in a band into some of the dance unit highlights as well.
Grade Four will be leading many of our dance tunes in the Winter Concert—which we are sure you
  will enjoy!
