MS. LJUDMILA JANICIJEVIC

 Dear Parents,

We would like to invite you to our Winter Concert, taking place on December 17 at 18:00, at the Upper
 School gym.

The program, Somos el Barco, is based on Henrik Ibsen’s fairytale Peer Gynt. The story tells about the life of
Peer Gynt, from boyhood to adulthood, focusing on his journey back home. Peer Gynt is free spirited and
open to challenges. His thirst for exploration leads him to a new-found confidence.

Appreciating and further developing the beauty of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumble Bee, Tchai-
kovsky’s Sugar Plum Fairy and Maria Tanase’s Op Sha Sha (Romanian dance), third graders will make the con-
cert even more vivid and joyful with their dancing. They will illustrate the mood of Peer Gynt and his adven-
tures the on sailing boat through the famous Piazzolla’s tune “Oblivion”. They will also interact with passen-
gers, played by students from all Lower School grades. All of these will present their skills of playing musical
instruments and their ability to respond with movement.

Third grades will be leaders of our boat, hosting everyone else. We are also proud to announce David, who is
surely going to work some magic playing the cello, together with his peers playing small percussions and
 mouth pianos.

Peer Gynt will be portrayed by Veljko Nikolic, a.k.a. Papa Nick, a famous Serbian percussionist and architect,
who has already supported ISB projects for over 8 years. The concert has one more special guest – Mirko
Knezevic, a professional choreographer who has also supported our school’s projects for 3 years.

The PYP learner profile attributes are promoted through the concert. Our students prove to be risk-takers, as
they take part in various musical styles. The beauty of languages and cultures is communicated through
 sounds, music and actions.

Please enjoy our celebration of unity and friendship at the concert. We find the story of belonging and learn-
ing from one another very inspiring and we can not wait to share it with you!

Here is also another special and very big thank you to our Grade Three singers, for taking part and performing
excellently at the Stage Program of the International Women’s Club Charity Bazaar, on December 6. Stu-
dents’ performance earned them many compliments, both by bazaar visitors and by the members of the IWC.
Ms. Ljudmila was very proud of her students!
