In the previous weeks, students finished working on the single sub-
ject of inquiry ‘Who We Are – Artistic Journeys’ while deepening
their understanding of observational drawing. Just like during the
unit, students chose materials for their final tasks. Since we were
lucky with the weather, we used every opportunity to go outside to
study how the sun makes different shades on objects and what per-
spective is while doing observational drawing.
The students finished the unit with a visual reflection, on the way,
they used line in their own work.
We have also started working on the unit of inquiry ‘How We Ex-
press Ourselves – Symbol’, as a connection to students’ learning in
their homeroom. During this unit, children will have opportunities to
choose to respond to the works of Edvard Much or Keith Haring
while exploring atmosphere and movement in the artists’ and their
own works.
