Grade four students played percussion instruments in order to ac-
company different tunes. Each tune provided students with unique
musical challenge as well as with the opportunity to express them-
selves in different ways. We then extended our learning by focus-
ing on movement and sound by exploring different rhythmic pat-
terns. At this point, students are gearing up for our unit – Dance.
Already, there is a lot of excitement generated around this unit
and students are constantly contributing ideas, expressing their
desire to familiarize themselves with as many dancing styles as
possible. With that said, moving forward, we will start working on
the selection of songs for the Winter Show but also look to incor-
porate some of the dance unit highlights as well.
