During October Grade 4 students learned instructional speech
and how to use the following vocabulary: first-prvo, then-onda,
posle-after, posle toga-after that, when-then kada-onda, and
na kraju (in the end). We started the unit through reviewing vo-
cabulary related to buildings and places in the city. The stu-
dents followed directions to draw and organize a map of a
neighborhood. While yaer 2 students continued to learn more
about maps, giving and following directions, year 4 students
used instructional speech to develop user’s instruction manual
for home appliances of their choice.
In addition, as Grade 4 students are learning about dance
through their unit of inquiry, Foreign Language teachers orga-
nized presentations about dances that originate from Serbia,
France and Spain. The students had an opportunity to learn
the basic steps of Serbian kolo, which is widely used in cele-
brations nowadays.
